Descrizione; In prossimità del centro geometrico del disco lunare è situata una pianura di modeste dimensioni: è il sinus Medii, la cui superficie è di circa 20.000 kmq. La rima Hyginus, lunga frattura del suolo lunare la quale si sviluppa per 170 km con una larghezza media di circa 4 km e con una profondità di 870 mt, delimita a nord il sinus Medii dal mare Vaporum. A sud di questo solco invece si distende la piana del sinus Medii in cui spicca il cratere Triesnecker, diametro di 28 km con pareti alte 2900 mt. L'area immediatamente circostante a questo cratere è percorsa da numerosi solchi la cui larghezza è molto minore rispetto a quella della rima Hyginus. Si affacciano su questa pianura numerosi crateri tra cui merita una citazione il complesso composto da Pallas-Murchison-Bode-Chladni, molto ravvicinati tra loro. Il sinus Medii confina a nord col mare Vaporum una volta superata la rima Hyginus, ad occidente col sinus Aestuum oltre una zona collinare mentre una volta superato il suo lato meridionale ci si avvicina ai primi contrafforti dell'altipiano centrale del nostro satellite, regione in cui la densità dei crateri aumenta progressivamente.
English version: In proximity of the geometric center of the lunar disc is situated a plain of modest dimensions: it is the sinus Medii, whose surface is of approximately 20,000 kmq. The rhyme Hyginus, long fracture of the lunar ground which it is developed for 170 km lenght with a medium width of approximately 4 km and with a depth of 870 mt, delimits to north the sinus Medii from the Vaporum sea. To south of this furrow instead stretches the flat of the sinus Medii in which it detaches the Triesnecker crater, diameter of 28 km with high walls 2900 mt. The immediately surrounding area to this crater is covered from numerous furrows whose width is much minor regarding the Hyginus rhyme. Numerous craters show oneself on this plain between which the complex composed from the Pallas-Murchison-Bode-Chladni craters. The sinus Medii it confines to north with the Vaporum sea after exceeded the Hyginus rhyme, to the West with the sinus Aestuum beyond a hilly zone while after its southern side is approached to us first bastions of the central plateau of our satellite, region in which the density of craters it increases progressively.
